2. Chocolate Na?ve

The Uganda Fleur de Sel is dreamy. Buttery, creamy, with teeny crunches of sea salt to lift it up. ?4.20/70g, from Fernandez & Wells shops or online (chocolatenaive.com)

3. William Curley

His House Dark 70 is smooth with a full, nutty, bonfire-like flavour. ?4.50/50g, shops in Richmond and Belgravia and a Harrods concession. (williamcurley.com)

4. Paul A Young

The peppermint and black pepper bar is like a luxury Mint Aero. Only 64 per cent cocoa but bitter and refreshing at the same time. ?4.50/40g, branches in Soho, Bank and Islington (paulayoung.co.uk)

5. Demarquette

For plain milk bar, the Vietnam Ben Tre Milk 40 per cent hits the spot. Long-lasting flavour with caramel at the end. ?2.75/22g, 285 Fulham Road, SW10 (demarquette.com)
